2 things before sleep

watching something about hollywood and where the power lies.
no longer does it lie in a few producers or a few directors...
there are the same traps of power but it operates in a more diffuse manner.
i think this is relevant to all aspects of society.
who pushes the buttons?
even these big corporate dudes...they're just pawns of something or somebody else.
we need to question power
over and over again
this is one of the most important things...this (probably) creates us, fucks us and makes us happy.

also, when we call for diversity - the color of your skin or your gender does not necessarily make you different from someone else. at least not in any big way.
we've got some 'diversity' in congress and all those nasty political scenes. but everybody thinks the same fucking way.

ThoughtDiversity.

the color of your skin makes you different. accepting the fact that everything is different is not the same as saying everything is the same.

yea. the color of your skin makes you different. i think i threw it off more than it should be by saying "at least not in any big way"...
but if your congressman/woman is black but still funds all the same shit that the racist white pig does, all the shit that supports the prison system, for example, which is a racist institution...then does that really represent all the black people in low income areas, the ones being imprisoned, the ones subject to racism, etc...i dunno. i think you've got a point to a certain degree. but in places like congress everybody thinks and acts the same. our understandings of race are fucked up in this country. anybody who says we live in a "post-racial society" (which is what some mexican-american woman said on bill moyers the other night) is a fucking moron.
